Introduction
In this course, we will be using git to submit every programming assignment. So, it is very important that we have you set up a github repository (and a github account) if you do not have one already. We won’t be dealing with anything too complex. As long as you can read instructions, then there is likely nothing to worry about!
Step 1. Create/Prepare your GitHub account
Please set up a GitHub account with your primary upenn.edu e-mail address (e.g. @engineering.upenn.edu). Note: If you already have a Github account with a non-Penn email, you should add your Penn email address as a secondary email address. You should not have to create a separate Github account for this class!
Step 2. account.txt
After you have done this, please create a text file named “account.txt”. Then write your e-mail address in the first line and your GitHub account username in the second line. Then submit it to the autograder. For example, if your e-mail is abc@engineering.upenn.edu and your GitHub account is xyz, then your account.txt should be as follows:

You should submit this file to the gradescope assignment called “Repo Creation” in the gradescope here
Step 3. Confirmation
After submission, the autograder will give you a link to GitHub where you can accept all the invitations (look for the CIS548 organization which we share with some of the other courses). You should also receive email invitations for the organization and also for your individual course repository to your primary GitHub email. Note: If you have done this assignment in a previous semester, then you should only receive a single invitation for your individual course repository.
The naming convention of the repository is <YY><Semester>-cis-<Account>. The <Semester> could be sp, su, and fa, which stands for the spring, summer, and fall semesters respectively. For instance, in Summer 2022, a student with a GitHub account as xyz will be assigned to a repository named 22su-cis5480-xyz.
Please Note: If you have previously been enrolled in this class, you can use the same GitHub ID that you have already created to submit to the autograder, then you will have a new repository for this semester. Please use the new repository to organize your code.
