Defining the Boundaries of Tomorrow by Pushing Them Today

We proudly exist at the pulse of invention. In nationally ranked academic programs spearheaded by expert faculty, we ensure that students have all the knowledge, skills and expertise needed to emerge as the next generation of transformational engineers.

The Programs That Are Redefining the Future

Penn Engineering offers two degrees with a combined 16 majors.  Students can choose between a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (B.S.E.) or a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.S.). The B.S.E. degree is for students who want to pursue engineering professionally after graduation or who prefer more technical coursework related to engineering. The B.A.S. program caters to students who do not intend to work as professional engineers, but want a customized education that integrates other interests with technology, tailored to their unique career goals.

Bioengineering

The human body is the most advanced machine we know, full of sensors, actuators, processors and self-healing materials. The ultimate goal of bioengineers is to understand that machine, its inner workings, and then improve it to enhance human health.

Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering

Computer and Information Science

Computing powers almost everything in the modern world, from AI to mobile payments to ride sharing to animation. The Department of Computer and Information Science (CIS) offers several degrees and joint programs, including Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Digital Media Design, and Computer Engineering.

Electrical and Systems Engineering

Electrical and Systems Engineering teaches you to understand and build the systems that power modern life. If you want to understand how the world really works, and to build what comes next, Electrical and Systems Engineering is the place to start.

Materials Science and Engineering

Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) transforms how we understand, design, and apply materials to solve today’s most pressing challenges. From nanotechnology to sustainable materials, the MSE program at the University of Pennsylvania equips students with the skills and knowledge to engineer the building blocks of innovation.

Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics

Mechanical engineers have always built the systems that move us forward, from the steam age to the space age. At Penn, Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics (MEAM) students design the robots, renewable energy systems, structures and smart devices that shape the way we live.
